Dodge the Summer Blues

Updated: Mar 20, 2022

Summer is coming in and it's bringing its special brand of loss of focus and productivity along for the ride! Build a productive work place this summer with this quick surefire list of ideas that will help you begin to create an environment that is as equally pleasant as it is conducive for work.

Background Music

Instead of having a silent office, fill the room with music. Playing background music at a low volume helps to keep employees calm and helps fill the void of the dreaded "work silence" throughout the day. Research suggests that listening to music can help to regain focus and increase your accuracy and speed. Some gentle background music will help to promote a positive environment...science says so.

Scented Wax Melts

Wax melts are the best way to get around the no candle rule and avoid the ire of your local fire department. They act just like a candle but are completely fire safe. By having a scented wax melt, the office will smell more pleasant thus helping to create a relaxing atmosphere. Aromatherapy is also an effective way to improve your mood, which can lead to higher productivity with scents like peppermint and lavender work to relieve stress and improve cognitive functioning.

Ordering Meals

Ordering meals out for your team can be a great way to have them take a much needed break during the day. Whether it’s a “Taco-Tuesday” tradition, or the occasional pizza Friday, ordering food gives everyone a chance to take a break and communicate with one another. Offering your employees a chance to discuss non-work topics over food allows them to feel more focused and invigorated once they then return to their work.
